You're hired! New apprentices start with Galatia
An innovative joint venture company created by a Lincolnshire housing association is supporting young people into work.
Galatia – An Acis Willmott Dixon Partnership, formed by Gainsborough based Acis Group and national repairs and maintenance firm Willmott Dixon Partnerships, has set up an apprenticeship scheme and now has its first recruits.
Galatia, a Limited Liability Partnership, is responsible for planned maintenance and improvements work, gas inspections, repairs and voids maintenance to Acis properties and could be a pioneer for future outsourcing models with housing providers.
Galatia now employs two trade apprentices who will learn their trade both in a practical and classroom environment in order to provide a high level of service to residents.

The new recruits are Jordan Phillips, who has joined as an apprentice Plumber, and Adam Marshall, who has come on board as a Joiner. Both Adam and Jordan started in August and are now working with Galatia teams across the West Lindsey area. They will learn skills in a practical way on the job, supported by a mentor. In addition, they are studying for a NVQ Level 2 on a part-time basis at Lincoln College.
Galatia Project Manager Andy McNaught said: "The length of the apprenticeship scheme depends on the qualification undertaken. Both Jordan and Adam are on three year schemes, with Adam already into his second year after having completed his first year elsewhere. Joining Galatia – An Acis Willmott Dixon Partnership will provide some exciting challenges for the apprentices that will help them grow and develop professionally. It is hoped that when Jordan and Adam have successfully completed their apprenticeships they may be offered a permanent role."
Additionally, a final year apprentice Electrician is nearing the completion of his course. Adam Gelder previously worked with Willmott Dixon Partnerships before being taken on by Galatia to further widen his experience.
