HERITAGE sites across Lincolnshire including The Collection museum and Gainsborough Old Hall will open their doors for free.

Some of the county's most historic sites are taking part in the national Heritage Open Days event.

Staff have also organised special events.

Entry to Gainsborough Old Hall will be free on Saturday and Sunday. Visitors will get to see "pilgrim re-enactors" and novelist Sue Allan will talk on her trilogy of books that focus on the Pilgrim Fathers.

The Collection will be offering visitors the opportunity to play medieval, Viking, Greek and Roman board games on Sunday.

Other county sites to visit during the weekend include the Bishop's Palace in Lincoln, Tattershall Castle, Lincoln Cathedral and the Royal Air Force College at Cranwell.
