Three men fined over poaching in Lincolnshire

THREE men, who came to Lincolnshire from the Middlesborough area to take part in daytime poaching, have been fined by magistrates.

Thomas Edward Jaffray, 29, of Thorntree, John Alan Langan, 36 and Gary Smith, 32, both of Stokesley, admitted trespassing on land in pursuit of game on November 5 last year.

Paul Wood, prosecuting, said the three men were photographed by the farmer on land at Blankney Dales, New Road, Woodhall Spa.

The three men, who were not represented, said they had come to Lincolnshire to sell their dogs and had not taken part in hare coursing.

They also said they had been on a public footpath and had not left it and had kept their dogs on leads.

Skegness magistrates fined them each £110 and ordered they each pay £85 in costs and a £20 victim surcharge.

    “The farmers are doing a very good job of killing off our wildlife with spaying crops with weedkillers and pesticides with out any help from outsiders not to mention breeding gamed birds for the rich to shoot in the name of sport which also includes hares and the culling of badgers.
    The Shooting young game birds which have no natural instincts due to being young and bred in captivity also trained to stay close to feeding stations placed along hedgerows so the gamekeeper knows where to send the so called "sports "people .”

    “These people are a blight on our County and I urge everyone to be aware and report any activity to the Police immediately. Lincolnshire Police are well aware of the problem and have a good strategy in place. The sight of boxing hares and Badgers out at night will be lost forever unless we all help.”
