Two-month closure of B1184 in Lincolnshire branded 'a joke'
A LOCAL resident has described the two-month closure of a road as ’a joke’.
The B1184, The Gride has been closed since before Christmas as a result of a landslide.

Barry Mallett, who lives in Old Leake, contacted the Target to raise his concerns that repairing the road didn’t seem to be a priority.
He says that diverted traffic is not using the A52 but is instead using the road through Sibsey which is putting extra strain on roads which are already suffering damage due to the weather.

Mr Mallett said: “It’s a joke. No one seems to be interested in bringing this road back into use.
“The road was already busy and is even more busier now.
“There are no clear diversions and no one seems to know when it’s going to be sorted out.
“What’s to say once this is fixed it won’t happen again?”
Lincolnshire County Council could not give a timescale on how long it may be before The Gride is reopened.
Area highways manager Andy Wharff said: “The bank of the Gride has collapsed as a result of the prolonged wet weather that we have seen over the last few months.
“We are already working with the Witham Fourth District Internal Drainage Board to repair the damage and make the road safe.
“The road is closed, but we are concerned that some motorists are ignoring the barriers and continuing on with their journey. We really would urge members of the public not to drive on the road - it is simply too dangerous.”

I didn't find Timmy Mallett funny at the height of his 'fame' and it appears that his idea of a joke is no better now!!!”
