Lincoln beauties' Miss England worry

Beautiful women may have to leave Lincoln if they want to put themselves in the running for Miss England – because Miss Lincoln could be scrapped.

The current organiser, Graham Would, is being forced to step down due to work commitments.

And if no one takes over the regional licence from him, the competition could be ditched all together.

Mr Would, who has organised the competition for the past five years, urged Echo readers to come forward and take responsibility for running the Lincoln regional heat.

"Miss Lincoln is a part of the Miss World competition, and is one of the biggest annual televised events," explained Mr Would.

"The competition isn't generally shown on mainstream television, so people tend to think the competition is in demise, when in fact, it's stronger than ever.

"The licence is currently available for someone else to take over from me and organise Lincoln's heat of the competition."

To enter Miss Lincoln, you must be a single woman without children, aged between 17 and 24, and you must be living, studying or working within Lincolnshire.

The winner goes through to compete in the Miss England competition, with the winner of that moving on to compete for the title of Miss World.
