Dambusters exhibit

Thursday, September 17, 2009, 06:30

A RARE piece of a bomber used by the Dambusters is to go on show.

The exhibition is to feature the only Lancaster under-belly gunner's hatch – which was added by 617 Squadron – in the world.

The squadron flew out of RAF Scampton during the Second World War.

Julie Ashworth, senior community engagement officer, said: "This will be a fantastic exhibition chronicling the relationship between the RAF and Lincolnshire, as well as charting the heroic actions of the Dambusters."

It will be held at Grantham Museum from Saturday, September 26 until Saturday, January 23 next year.
