City band needs you to help them on road to stardom

Friday, August 29, 2008, 07:30

A BUNCH of bright, young things could place Lincoln on the musical map.

But to get within a hair's breadth of making it, local band Dancing Lotus need your votes to win an unsigned bands competition.

The eight University of Lincoln students are in the final five of a selection of unsigned bands chosen by celebrity chef Jamie Oliver.

Dancing Lotus' violin player Nick Long said: "One of our band members, Luke, entered us for the competition and about five days ago, my mate calls and says we are in the top five!"

The lads, aged between 18 and 21, are the symbiosis of two bands which played regularly at Lincoln's Kind bar about two years ago.

Each member brought something new which has created tracks filled with beats, piano, vocals, eemcees and guitars.

And it is the lads' diverse list of musical influences – hip-hop, pop, R&B, classical – that helps to create their unique sound.
