And police now believe that two men seen near the property in Hill Crescent, Gainsborough on Tuesday could be responsible.
The elderly woman was on the phone when a man walked in and covered her mouth, threatening her and stealing cash.
Unhurt, the victim was shocked by her ordeal – and is still too upset to be interviewed by officers.
But the witness believes that two men seen in Hill Crescent at the time may have been involved in the offence.
One was seen running away from the scene.
They approached from Eastern Avenue and went back the same way.
The first suspect is white, aged 18 or 19, 5ft 7in and possibly had acne or acne scars.
He was wearing a top with cream, brown and blue horizontal stripes.
A second man was younger, about the same height and had a gaunt face with a prominent or pointed chin.
He was wearing dark clothing.
Police also want to talk to the drivers of a silver and a yellow car which drove from nearby Danes Road into Somerby Road at the time of the robbery – because they may also have seen the suspects.
Anyone with information can contact Detective Constables Dave Moxton and Kev Kay at Gainsborough CID on (01427) 810910 or call Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555111.
