Right royal film treat in store for Lincoln
This is the release date for The Young Victoria, Martin Scorsese's blockbuster telling the story of Queen Victoria and the turbulent period after she became Queen at the age of 18.
Featuring in a minor role is Princess Beatrice, great-great-great-great granddaughter of Queen Victoria and daughter of the Duchess of York, who is one of the films producers.
Glamorous actress Emily Blunt plays a young Queen Victoria while Lincolnshire star Jim Broadbent plays King William.
And as with the 2006 film The Da Vinci Code, Lincoln Cathedral stars as a stand-in for London's Westminster Abbey.
Although the footage was shot in Lincoln in September 2007, the film is only now near completion.
Lucy Powell, of Momentum Pictures, the production company, has seen a rough cut.
"I loved it and it was just my cup of tea," she said.
"The relationship between Victoria and Albert is portrayed brilliantly and the shots are absolutely gorgeous."
Roy Bentham, chief executive at Lincoln Cathedral, was one of the many people involved in the filming at the minster last year.
"When we did The Da Vinci Code we were very kindly invited to a special screening at the Odeon in Leicester Square," he said.
"So I'm awaiting my invitation to the red carpet this time round."
