Schoolgirl wins parliament tour for MP's card creation

Saturday, November 28, 2009, 06:30

A youngster from a Lincoln school has designed a Christmas card which will be delivered to the Prime Minister.

Ten year-old Missie Rath of Sir Francis Hill School, was picked as the winner for city MP Gillian Merron's annual Christmas card competition.

The winning picture will now be the official Christmas card Ms Merron and will be sent to constituents, politicians, charities, business, and even the Prime Minister.

Her design includes Lincoln Cathedral with Father Christmas flying overhead. Three runner-up designs will also be printed on the reverse of the card.

Ms Merron said: "It was great to once again see so many entries for my Christmas card competition from school across Lincoln.

"I send hundreds of cards to people in Lincoln and Westminster and all the judges thought that Missie's design, with it's drawing of a Cathedral, represented our city really well.

"It was a tough decision but I hope the winner and runners up all enjoy seeing their designs in print."

Missie is now set to spend the day in Westminster in the new year. Runners up Chloe Page, six, Jasmin Greenhalgh, nine, and Roanna Ghest, 10 will all receive a £10 voucher which has been donated from Waterstones in Lincoln.
