Sweet way to sink your teeth into cake-taster session

Doddington Hall's farm shop cafe, near Lincoln, is hosting cake-tasting sampler sessions.
Around 10 varieties of homemade bakes form a lavish spread for cake-lovers to devour, including farmhouse fruitcake, rhubarb upside-down cake, and a Victoria sandwich filled with fresh cream.
But indulgence comes at a price. Although the £7.50 tickets won't pull on the purse strings, the calorific content may tip the scales.
A taster wedge of the gooey rum and raisin chocolate cake will set you back 350 calories. And if a hearty appetite sees one make multiple visits to the buffet, then the calorie counter could quickly clock up more than 3,000 calories.
Jennifer Reeves, the farm shop cafe manager at Doddington Hall, said: "Most people try half a slice of everything, but they can eat as much as they like.
"The average guest will try everything. They each consume about a quarter of a cake, but if they want more, they can have more."
Cake Watcher's chef Eileen Robertson claims her cakes are healthy because they are made from organic ingredients and locally-sourced products.
