£500k London-style nightspot planned for University of Lincoln campus bar
A student bar may be revamped and turned into a "London-style" nightspot if a Lincoln businessman's bid to buy it is successful.
Entrepreneur Chris Regan hopes to splash out on The Shed, which is on the University of Lincoln campus.

No deal has yet been signed but Mr Regan, who already owns a number of other city venues, including Lincolnshire Red and the Cloud Bar, said he was hopeful a deal could be reached.
"The company who approached us had seen what other investments I'd done in Lincoln and liked what they saw," he said.

"I thought it had amazing potential because of the location, what with it overlooking the marina and backing onto the university campus.
"It's ideal as it has the potential to attract a wide variety of customers."
Although the pub is open to anyone at the moment, it mainly caters for students. However, Mr Regan would like to change that.
"If I get the go-ahead, I will be aiming to attract other people within the city as it will be a venue for all to enjoy, however it will still be available to students."
The 24-year-old entrepreneur said the project would cost around £500,000. The Shed would be completely gutted.
Final designs will be confirmed this month and it is hoped the transformation would be finished in by summer.
Ann-Christine Bee, 20, a film and TV student, said: "I think it will do the uni good as the current Shed is really outdated and a new design might pep it up."
A spokesman for Greene King, which owns The Shed, refused to comment.

“This 'entrepreneur' should leave the shed alone! As an alumni of the University of Lincoln this has, and is, my go-to pub of choice in Lincoln for the fact that its a simple, standard, friendly pub, with good food and good drinks, which ISN'T a bustling club or nightlife hotspot. His vision simply won't work in the way he hopes and he'll ruin a perfectly good thing in the process.”

“As some one who is being told that i will have to pay more for a drink at the weekends because of binge drinkers i think its about time that all campus in this country close all the bars and night clubs on there sites and got back to teaching there students and stop thinking of how to get as much money as they can get out of there student in the three years there in there charge as there are lots of bars and night clubs in walking distance of there campus.”

“Why doesn't this 'entrepreneur' concentrate on looking after other investments, i.e finish your paintwork at Cloud bar, before having visions on a grander scale elsewhere. It is a terrible idea to change this away from its current design concept of a student bar. Too many people are attempting to create 'London style' venues in the local area. Whilst these venues might offer attraction in the capital, in the small City of Lincoln, alternative propositions always prove more successful.
The shed lacks a viable demographic, has accessibility issues and is an ill conceived design plan. The View bar is a recent example of a london style venue in a similar area. On the two occassions that I have been in there, there has definately been room to swing a cat, i.e empty, no customers.
I would much prefer that the shed be owned and operated by the university, for university gain, and not in the hands of this young pup/”
