£90k windfall will provide free leisure activities
A two-year scheme to provide free after-school sports activities for primary school children in a West Lindsey town will go ahead after a £90,000 lottery windfall.
The multi-sports sessions will launch in Gainsborough in April after the Big Lottery Fund gave the go-ahead to the West Lindsey Leisure Centre.
The council-owned centre in The Avenue is run and managed by Everyone Active – which will either host the clubs or run them at the schools.
The nearby Charles Baines Community Primary School helped in the funding application last April by running pilot multi-sports clubs for children aged from five to 11.

Head teacher Nigel Walter said: "The pupils really benefitted from these high quality PE sessions.
"They were able to try out a range of sports and they became more aware of their health and fitness."
The Charles Baines pupils who completed the 10-week pilot programme felt fitter and more confident in doing a range of sports.
The programme aims to give children and families greater access to physical activities to encourage healthier lifestyles.
