No reason for superstore site
I WOULD like to ask Stuart Couling and his band of merry men if they have been to the Tesco store at Yaxley?
I will guess that they have not been to see the inside of a Tesco superstore, I have been. I agree that you can probably find anything you want in the store. The major problem is that they are competing with all the stores in Peterborough.
In Sleaford there will be nothing of any size to compete with. A store any larger than the Tesco we have in town at the moment, will in my opinion, ruin the town. All the small independent traders will struggle to stay open. The town's footfall will only be to and from the superstore in Sleaford or out of town, to a town with cheaper petrol.
The only shops to stay open will be the charity shops.

For the life of me I can find no good reason for Tesco wanting to go to the old Advanta site. That site seems to be boxed in with no room for expansion. A better place for a store larger than the existing Tesco store would be on the A17 with access and exit on the west bound carriageway.
I support the Sleaford Town Council in its opposition to the NKDC compulsory purchase order. I think that all the people on Mareham Lane and the present access road to the Maltings will object to this plan because they will suffer the most.
I feel sure that all the people who want to use the Advanta site for a superstore, live out of Sleaford.
