Two recycling tips in Lincolnshire are saved from closure
Plans to close two recycling tips in Lincolnshire have been scrapped following public opposition.
Proposals to shut the sites at Whisby and Leadenham have today been abandoned by Lincolnshire County Council.
It comes after thousands of residents signed petitions against the moves.
The council had hoped the closures would help it shave thousands of its annual spending bill.
But at a meeting of the full council in Lincoln this morning, members voted to drop the plans.

“This is a sham article and none of the facts are right. Having seen the council webcast, the members voted to make a recommendation to the executive committee that the sites should be kept open. That committee meeting isn't until 6th of March so the decision certainly isn't final and these sites may still be shut.”

“Glad the County Council has seen sense in this matter. I frequently use the tip at Whisby, and a nicer, more helpful work force you couldn't wish to encounter.
Fly tipping wouldn't even enter my mind, but it may do some peoples who can't readily unload their rubbish.”
