John ClarkJ was born into a farming family from Epworth North Lincolnshire, so understands the importance of freshly produced local produce.
On leaving school he entered into a catering course at Scunthorpe’s ‘North Lindsey College’ after which he worked in and around the Yorkshire region.
After several years gaining valuable experience he obtain advanced pastry qualifications at the Leeds ‘Thomas Danby College’. From here he entered business for the first time in Yorkshire with his first restaurant venture.
After several years of successfully running his restaurant, and at that time in a very difficult economic climate, he decided to return to higher education completing a three year university course in hotel management which involved work placements in France. John later returned to work in France at the celebrated Chateau de Bellecroix in Chagny, in the heart of the Burgundy wine region becoming close friends with the hotels proprietors the Gautier family.
After returning to the UK John decided it was time to venture into business once again and searched the country for suitable premises. The lure of his home county of Lincolnshire was beckoning, and after much searching found The Queens Head, Kirkby la Thorpe, ‘and the rest as they say is history’!
John has made several television and radio appearances, promoting Lincolnshire food.
John’s farming roots, experience and French training has put him in good stead to offer sumptuous dishes, perfectly cooked and at the right price in the heart of Lincolnshire.
