STAR TREK (12A)

This is the maiden voyage of a shiny, new Starship Enterprise. Its mission: to revitalise a flagging, yet beloved franchise and to boldly go where so many have gone before. Ardent fans of the universe, will take issue with some of the changes, including the introduction of a forbidden romance, a time-travelling narrative thread, the lack of an imposing villain and insufficient crew detail. But action sequences, orchestrated at breakneck speed, enlivened with slick digital effects, should satisfy most.
