AN ENVIRONMENTAL charity is urging Lincolnshire residents to buy "forest friendly" Christmas cards this year.

The Forest Stewardship Council wants county residents to buy cards that display its logo on the back.

The logo means that the cards have been produced using trees from sustainable products.

Rosie Teasdale, deputy director at FSC, said the logo used to be associated with DIY products and garden furniture.

"It is now being seen across a much broader market, and increasingly on paper products such as greetings cards and wrapping paper," she said.

The FSC has also teamed up with Sainsbury's in Tritton Road to launch a Christmas card recycling scheme.

Bins to collect used cards will be in store from Saturday, December 26 to Tuesday, December 12.
