Community safety day for local residents

Saturday, February 06, 2010, 10:00

AN awareness raising day has been organised in Skegness to allow local people to find out more about work underway to prevent crime in the area.

The event, being held at the Embassy Theatre, has been organised by the East Lindsey Community Safety Partnership.

There will be opportunities to meet representatives from Trading Standards, Lincolnshire Police, Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue, Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership, Crime Stoppers, Crime Prevention Partnership and the Neighbourhood Policing Team who will be on hand to offer advice and answer questions.

Portfolio Holder for Community Safety at East Lindsey District Council, Councillor Sandra Harrison, said: "These events are a good opportunity for local people to better understand what is being done to make our area an even safer place to live and visit.

"This Partnership event will showcase the work of a range of organisations and give people the chance to pick up safety advice from knowledgeable people. It will also give communities a chance to influence future community safety priorities for our area.

The event takes place on Thursday February 11 between 2pm and 6pm. For further information contact John Fleming on 01507 601111 or e-mail john.fleming@e-lindsey.gov.uk
