Shock win for IBC

Stonehaven Residential Home Division One

RELEGATED IBC went out of the league on a high as they produced a surprise result, overcoming fourth-placed Carlton Road to pick up all six points.

Richard Toy, Denis Ellis and Ted Bourne came from 5-15 down to win 25-20 and June Burman, John Swain and Reg Doughty trailing 6-11 recovered to win 18-15. They will be formidable opposition in the lower division.

Second-from-bottom Royal Mail needed at least two points from second-top Cosmos to help them from dropping into Division Two, but the Cossies were never behind as skips Keith French and Les Feary succeeded 25-16 and 23-16.

Next week's game against fellow strugglers Swineshead will decide who is joining IBC.

As expected Holland Fen just had the edge over A40 with all the points going to the Fenmen.

Swineshead, like the Mail, failed in their quest for points to alleviate their relegation problems, as they surprisingly fell to Jolly Farmers, 19-15 and 22-11.

Eastenders, who have already won the league with plenty to spare, were matched against Invaders amd they added further points, Simon Reeson winning 17-11 and Andrew Reeson with a 32-10 success.

Results round-up: IBC 43 (6-0) 35 Carlton Road; Royal Mail 32 (0-6) 48 Cosmos; A40 22 (0-6) 35 Holland Fen; Invaders 21 (0-6) 49 Eastenders; Swineshead 26 (0-6) 41 Jolly Farmers.

T and B Containers Ltd Division Two

Kirton Town finished their season with two maximum points hauls and a quick return to the top division.

Matched against Feathers, Gordon Gallichan and Peter Tracey won 25-14 and 25-11.

Next up were Norprint and they like the Feathers could not stop the flow of shots as Jeff Homewood, Jill Smith and Dorothy Hawkesworth won 24-9 and Phyl Bourne, Ann Kemp and Peter Tracey secured the rest of the points with a win of 25-15.

The Feathers, after falling to the Town, did much better against Woodhall and moved themselves into fifth spot.

Derek Hunn tied 15-15 and Geoff Dawson won 22-12.

Golfers versus Highflyers saw the higher team, Golfers, win all the points.

Ron Hulley, Derek Marshall and Graham Scarboro won 21-11 and Margaret McClean, Dave Gill and Norman Ablard had a close 22-19 victory.

Parthians and Golfers shared the rink points with the Parthians taking the aggregate points.

For the Wranglers, Jeff Powell, Brian Clarke and Malc Nichols imposed themselves in the latter stages and from 12-13 down won 24-13.

Parthians though had Mark Freemantle, Pauline Atkin and Keith Nix in devastating form as they went from 6-6 at end five to 22-6 at end 11, and finished winning 31-11.

The Crowns and Strollers, both relegated, finished their season on a friendly note when they shared the rink points and also the aggregate points.

For the Crowns, Phil Markham won 23-11. Replying for Strollers, Alan Everitt won 24-12.

Stumpers who always looked like promotion material fell away in the latter stages of the season and disappointingly finished in third spot.

Matched against Breakaways they were again found wanting.

Breakaways' Ivan Dilley tied 17-17 and John Stevens won 17-13.
