A tale of life in 80s up t'north
Presenting a microcosm of working-class life in a northern local in the 80s – a place of failed aspirations and unfulfilled lives – two Lincoln actors will take on 14 roles when amateur Common Ground Theatre Company stages its latest production, Two, this month.
Juli Charlton and Colin Brimblecombe will be starring as a pub landlord and landlady in Jim Cartwright's bittersweet play, which explores broken relationships through the prism of the local boozer, on Thursday to Saturday, October 10-12.
The pair will also be performing as the pub's many regulars, from Moth the failed Romeo to Roy the bully and the loveable couple Fred and Alice. Colin Brimblecombe is a well known actor who will be making his Common Ground debut in this play while Juli Charlton appeared in the company's very first production, Spring and Port Wine, back in 2001.
The recurring theme of broken relationships and how to heal them comes together in the landlord and landlady, whose marriage is clouded by an unspoken guilt that ultimately comes to the surface.
