Teenage thug Stuart Kisby was legally a juvenile when he helped Darren Wheeler beat an innocent father of two to an unrecognisable pulp.

Because he was just 17 he could not be named and shamed, but now, after he turned 18 in the last fortnight, the Echo can, for the first time, identify him.

Darren Wheeler (19) and Stuart Kisby (18) admitted inflicting grievous bodily harm on Stephen Swallow (43) on June 28 when they kicked him and stamped on him for no apparent reason after smoking cannabis during an all-day drinking session.

Mr Swallow, an engineer, was walking through Lincoln city centre after an enjoyable day playing golf followed by a meal with friends.

Phil Howes, prosecuting, said: "Mr Swallow suddenly felt a blow to the back of his head.

"He turned round and saw two males eight to 10 feet away from him."

Mr Howes said Mr Swallow asked his attackers: "What have I done?"

One of the youths responded saying: "You ain't done nothing. We're just going to have you."

Wheeler, of St Rumbold's Street, Lincoln, already had a violent past when he attacked Mr Swallow.

Kisby, of St Botolph's Crescent, Lincoln, had also previously appeared before the courts, and in 2005, when he was 15, he was reprimanded for a violent offence.

Judge John Machin described the pair as "savages" and locked them both up for five-and-a-half years.

For more on the case, including the reaction of Mr Swallow, see Saturday's Echo.
