Full-time: Kettering 1-0 Lincoln
Only a penalty from Aman Verma was needed to see Kettering to a 1-0 win over Lincoln City at Nene Park today.
The Imps found themselves a goal behind following a 35th minute penalty from Verma. Richard Pacquette was guilty of handling the ball in area and referee Richard Wigglesworth pointed straight to the spot. Verma stepped up and calmly shot the ball to Joe Anyon's left-hand side.
Up to that point the game was evenly paced, but Kettering were just edging into the driving seat.
After the restart, the City boss David Holdsworth introduced Lloyd for Platt and Russell for Sheridan. The duo took time to get going, but they eventually started to bring the Imps back into the game.
Russell was causing a lot of headaches on the right-flank and for the first time in the game the Imps were getting balls in to the Kettering box.
The Poppies, though, were leading a charmed life, in particular goalkeeper Walker. The Imps have several efforts go straight to Walker, with Pacquette having City's best chance with 10 minutes to go.
Kettering were also knocking at the Imps door, and Anyon had to get down well to save brilliantly in the dying moments. But the hosts did enough to seal the points.
Lincoln City (4-5-1): Anyon; Robson, Gowling, Williams, Nutter; Platt, Christophe, Sheridan, Thompson, Nicolau; Pacquette. SUBS: Draper, Pearson, Lloyd, Watson, Russell.
Kettering Town (4-3-3): Walker; Davis, Jerel Ifil, Solngare, Noubissie; Kelly, Bridges, Meechan; Mills, Verma, Ralph. SUBS: Phil Ifil, Pryor, Jones.

“Couple of points.
1. What has McCallum done that in a scenario when we have no strikers he doesn't even make the squad? Last season, he was one of the few who gave 100%
2. When Reg came in certain players made miraculous recoveries from long term injuries. It seems that they have fallen back to the sick bay
3. A business contact (former Northampton Director) told me that he was going to the Kettering game n Saturday. He that his told me that a friend of his is buying the club this week. please don't shoot the messenger, I don't know this guy very well but don't be surprised if they are under new ownership and that they survive to the end of the season.
Up the Imps”

“Sorry chaps but you've got to have a rant now and then.
I am still going to the home games.
Yes I was there on Tuesday night and it was a good game.
Frustration is getting the better of me. I will endeavour to chose my words with care in future.”

“sounds like snoddy has had enough . another one driven away by the years of decline . suddenly realising there are better things to do in life than pay good money at a high price for a poor product . along with the 3000 plus that have gone . oh and do not forget we have been warned we may have a lower playing budget budget next season . amongst all the press releases and conferences nobody at the top has said this will not happen now despite the 500k . not looking good still .”

“Snoddybag
You must really try to understand what you've read about this 10.000.000 or probably you haven't read it, and have just listened to gossip.
The same as you must learn to get your facts right when you write about Lincoln and how the team has played just lately.
The 10.000.000 is only an estimate what they would get if they sold the ground for a housing development, but if it was sold to Tesco's for example a business they would probably make more money for example 15.000.000
So that price was just a figure saying what they might get if they sold the ground in 4 years time.
Nobody stated that that sort of money was available at the present time to buy players.”

“snoddybag - Why would you think they're not likely to win again? We've just had a draw away at Gateshead and a clean-sheet win against Southport. Can't argue that this season has been a huge disappointment, but it's not the same gutless despondency as last season.”

“We are 16th in the league with 30 points. The way we are playing we are not likely to win another game. (a bit like last season).
There are 4 below us with 28 points. They only need to win 2 games to be in front of us.
Newport County have 2 games in hand and if they win those 2 they will be in front of us.
At this stage it looks very grim.
If there is £9.000.000 kicking around to build a new stadium lets spend it on some football players that can play football.”

“Looking at the league table, we should be safe in theory. But if you look at the games we've got left to play - some of them very tricky - I reckon that we only will pick up another 15 - 19 points at best - making our total for the season of between 45 - 49 points. If you look back over the records of the last few BSP seasons, 45 points might not be enough to save us, and we can't rely on Kettering and Darlo's problems to keep us up. It's clear that we are now on a downward spiral, a bit like the end of last season when Tilson lost the dressing room. This season, there are hints of internal issues in the dressing room to worry about, but more importantly we have serious injury issues. I find it astounding that the club are even thinking about spending nearly 10 million pounds on a new ground when money needs to be spent urgently to keep us in this division. I fear that the Board are hoping (like last season) that we can be kept up "on the cheap". It might prove to be the biggest risk they ever take.”

“The sooner Laurent,Taylor and Mcallum are off the wage bill the better, they have contributed nothing this season.”

“Seems to me that it's the whole of LCFC club that is 'not fit for purpose' - not the ground ...
New stadium in 4 years!! Who is going to use it?”

“who stole the magic wand?
I know we are going no where this season but a win against teams that are below us would be a bit of a bonus.
I went to watch Sleaford Town play yesterday and had my radio on listening to the imps and the difference between the Imps and Sleaford Town is £11 and £3. Sleaford 3 Daventry Utd 0
This Tuesday Sleaford Town play Boston Utd I Know it's only a friendly (thats if there is such a thing as a friendly) but it's only £2 to watch.
Come on down the price is right.”
