Full-time: Lincoln City 1 Southport 0
Gary Simpson crowned his first home game in charge of Lincoln City with a priceless three points against Southport in a game overshadowed by two red cards.
The Imps had taken the lead in the 14th minute when Jamie Taylor was bundled over in the box by Aaron Chalmers allowing Alan Power to stroke home from the spot.

Lincoln City manager, Gary Simpson.
But back came Southport and they wasted a glorious chance to equalise when Shaun Whalley, who was exceptional throughout, saw his spot-kick saved by Paul Farman.
In the second half, chances were limited for both sides which were both reduced to 10 men late on when Vadaine Oliver and Neill Byrne got involved in an altercation.

Southport went for broke at the end and nearly hauled themselves level when Whalley cracked the foot of the post with a 25-yard free-kick.
But despite a late surge it was not enough to deny the Imps, who sealed only their third win since December.

“As I see it Nigel, you have two choices. Ignore it and just let it pass. Or drive round to their house and speak to them. Call it the Curtis Woodhouse approach.”

“Hi Sweepclean, I couldn't agree more.
However, when someone decides to point out errors in such a manner as to try and ridicule that person, namely me in this case, I will always stand up for myself, and respond accordingly, in this case, by highlighting the errors in his posts.
Anyway, I wish to draw a line under it now, as I am flipping bored with it, as I am sure everyone else is.
Looking forward to tonight's game, and hopefully an upset!”

“Hi Minty & Nigel
Let's remember this is a page to air your views, on what your opinions are about Lincoln our team, not an English test paper, so as long as what you post is readable what does it matter.
The only time I would criticise is if a poster posted in text shortcuts as some do on mobile phones for example.
Sorry if the comma's are the wrong place Hehehe.
Nice to have chatted with you both.”

“Glad to hear that Minty.
Oh, by the way, I Just want to clear up the correct use of the words "proportion" and "apportion" in the context of my post.
It would appear that either word could be used really, the definition of "Apportion" as described in the copy of "Collins concise Dictionary and Thesaurus" that I have on my desk, "Apportion", "to divide out in shares", "Proportion", "relative size or extent", " a part considered in respect of the whole".
However,I would agree in the sentence I used, "to apportion blame" would be, on reflection, grammatically correct, in the same way as using punctuation marks, when writing or constructing a sentence.”
