Lincoln Ladies secured top spot in their Continental Cup group with a 3-2 victory over Liverpool Ladies at Ashby Avenue.

The Lady Imps trailed twice, but fought back with Casey Stoney heading home the winner five minutes from time.

With their place in the semi-finals already assured, Lincoln made a promising start, but were stunned when they fell behind to a comical own goal on 18 minutes. Sophie Bradley's backpass bobbled over the foot of keeper Nicola Hobbs and ball rolled agonisingly over the line.

The home side were level soon after when Carla Cantrell crashed the ball home after Liverpool failed to clear a free-kick.

However, the visitors restored their lead when Hannah Keryakolis headed home unmarked.

But an eventful first half continued when Lincoln levelled again, this time through Megan Harris from close range.

The home side laid siege to the Liverpool goal in the second half, but looked like having to settle for a draw until England skipper Stoney headed home in a crowded box.
