A freak own goal from Paul Mayo condemned Boston United to their third successive 1-0 defeat at Solihull Moors in Blue Square Bet North.

The unfortunate left-back deflected Ryan Beswick's cross-shot into his own net in first half added time at Damson Park.

The result was harsh on the Pilgrims, who carved out enough chances to win the game. But Ben Milnes, Spencer Weir-Daley and Marc Newsham were either off target or denied by Moors keeper Jasbir Singh, who enjoyed a terrific game.

The home side had their chances too with Omar Bogle seeing a long-range effort in the second half strike the post after catching United keeper Dan Haystead off his line.
