Full-time: Woking 1 Lincoln City 1
Gary Simpson began his reign as Lincoln City manager with a hard-earned point at Woking this afternoon.
The Imps made the worst possible start when Brett Johnson headed in John Nutter's corner.

But after Adam Smith hit the bar, the visitors equalised in the 25th minute when Oliver headed in via the post.
Kevin Betsy went close before half-time, but after the break Lincoln created chances with Alan Power and Adam Smith both being denied by Brown.

Farman had to be at his best in the dying stages, however, producing a terrific save to thwart Bradley Bubb.

“The Woking manager himself said the pitch was poor and meant that his team couldn't play it along the floor. It remains to be seen if we will play like that again but I agree pumping the ball long to a lone target man is not a great tactic. Although if you are looking for a draw it works because you can have 9 men behind the ball when the other side attack”

“Isambard excellent comments. Woking was a small ground and imps fans very close to the action so I got a real close up of the players' high work rate and the motivation provided by GS. Personally IMP73 I would rather see an animated manager than a studious one.
I know its difficult at this level but I wish we would try to play a bit more football on the ground. Oliver put in a great shift but high balls pumped forward to him were regularly gobbled up by the big Woking defenders.
Conceding in the first minute was a sloppy start, but bags of effort all round and Alan Power was at the heart of everything, probing and short passing on the ground.
Do think we need Jamie Taylor in the starting 11 though, cos the goals for column has stalled of late.

“Hag on.....we're attributing the point to the passion from the dugout? Besides asking what value this brings, I think we'll find its going to take more from a manager than being pumped-up on a matchday. And as for those of you still reckoning the Chuckle Brothers are the Messiah(s), look at the results whilst Grant & Anthea were 'in charge' and ask yourselves why GS has been brought in....shameless....”

“The best thing about Saturday's performance was the effort put in by the whole team and the vocal encouragement by Gary Simpson. Smith created the goal and for once put a shift in. It's clear that Gary won't tolerate anyone who doesn't put the work in. Brown and Diagne were solid and other than the goal (which Farman should have punched clear) we defended pretty well. The only danger was when Kevin Betsy found space and created a shooting position.
Promising start. We must win at least one of the next 2 matches.
Up the Imps”

“"...Gateshead are more or less in freefall"
Having played 4 games less than us (2 wins 1 draw and 8 defeats) since November, similar record to our own, guess we are in "freefall" too. Lets hope Simpson turns it around a bit lively eh!”

“Hi Sweep, I know, however drawing is only marginally better than losing.
Since November we have only picked up 11pts out of a possible 45pts, which included 5 draws. Had we managed to convert those draws to victories, then we would now be on 47pts,and in a much healthier league position, being just about safe.
My point is, drawing is not good enough, we need victories, as games are beginning to run out, and in the remaining fixtures, we do have some tricky opponents.
I for one don't want to see us relying on other results going our way, which I fear, is now looking increasingly likely.”

“...Gateshead are more or less in freefall and I reckon they are one of the favourites to go down - but hey still enough games left for any of the teams in the bottom half to get relegated. C'mon you Imps!”

“Hi Nigel
There is only Gateshead that can overtake us with their games in hand at the present time, Ebbsfleet can't they can only equal our points tally as we have a better goal difference.”

“Looking at the table, draws are not going to be good enough guys, we need wins, and we need them now. Two points off the drop zone, and with two teams below us with games in hand, spells danger!”

“Southernimp:You obviusly don't get chance to watch Sheridan too much, he is one of the most hardest working players on the pitch, if the instruction is over th top its totally wrong for this team.I as I presume you do live south, have a word with friends up here who watch most games and they will tell you what he is like. I do hope GS isn't missing out as DH did with just the big hoof, people pay to watch football, and Grant did a good job I think in both Barrow & Mansfield games considering he had just taken over, and he totally deserved a win against Mansfield.
come on boys”
