Blacksmithing, stone masonry and working with stained glass will be some of the traditional crafts on display at Lincoln Castle.

Lincolnshire County Council will host the 1,000 Years of Traditional Crafts event.

It will feature more than 50 crafts and skills from times gone by at the skills centre and the Museum of Lincolnshire Life.

The event on September 29 and 30 will be the first chance for the public to see inside the new Heritage Skills Centre, the first step in the Lincoln Castle Revealed project to develop the historic grounds.

Eddy Poll, executive councillor for cultural services, said: "After last year's success, we decided to make it a two-day event this time.

"That way, people have plenty of time to see all that's on offer.

"We've got lots of hands-on activities including a special marquee just for children."

There will also be the Taste of Lincolnshire Food Fair, held in Castle Square, and cookery demonstrations in the Castle Hill car park.

Lincoln Castle will be open from 10am until 6pm for each day of the event, with last entry at 5.15pm. The Museum of Lincolnshire Life will be open from 10am until 5pm with last entry at 4.30pm.
