Sleaford Target

RURAL waste coming to Sleaford in thousands of cars and lorries.

Please thank the instigators of the plan for the extra traffic on our Sleaford roads if the Leadenham recycling site is closed.

Local operators say they get 300 to 500 each weekend. That would mean many thousands more cars a year, travelling along that road which is not designed for that traffic. It has had no link roads built in the last 20 years. If the Leadenham recycling site closes, waste traffic will go past the rail crossing at the centre of Sleaford and through the town.

The idea that people will dump their rubbish, while in their gardening clothes, and then fill their boot with food from Tesco is a pipe dream.

Separate journeys will be no doubt be needed for rubbish, adding to the congestion in Sleaford and also at our recycling site.

Please note that most road foundations around Sleaford were not built for 48 tonners laden with rubbish. We don't need more traffic. Is the Council just increasing the traffic to make an excuse for a Tesco bridge?

The price of yet another Tesco is the damage to our recreation ground and our High Street shops. Surely that price is also too high? Ken Fernandes, Sleaford
